Bridgerton spoilers: The future of Eloise and Penelope and whether they ever make up according to th

The last episode of Bridgerton season two was a real doozy, full of revelations and scandals. The most dramatic moment of all was surely Eloise finding out Penelope was Lady Whistledown.

Tears were shed, harsh words were said, and the best friends who were once as close as sisters parted ways for we don't know how long. Will Penelope and Eloise ever make up?

In the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn things go very differently. For one, Lady Whistledown's revelations are not nearly as dramatic. She certainly never exposes Eloise's relationship with a town boy - especially because said relationship only happens on the TV show.

In fact, it is not until Penelope's book Romancing Mr Bridgerton (which season three will be based on) that her secret identity is revealed. This all takes place at the same time as Eloise's story To Sir Phillip, With Love and so the best friends are on their own adventures when everything comes out.

The reader doesn't know anything about Eloise's reaction to the revelation until an epilogue that Quinn added later. In the extra chapter, Penelope tells Eloise everything but it turns out Hyacinth has already let the secret slip. The best friends do not have a massive argument - Eloise actually takes the moment to tell Penelope she is incredibly proud.

Quite different from the TV version. Considering the massive fallout in the last episode of season two, including Eloise's comment that she never wishes to see Penelope again, there will be a much bigger bridge to gap before the friends can reunite properly on screen.

The reunion is not impossible though. Claudia Jessie (Eloise) told EW: "I don't think it'll be insurmountable. Eloise admires and has admired Lady Whistledown for so long. She'll probably end up being a bit impressed with her best friend. However, I do think it's going to take time and effort, because the levels of betrayal are so big."
